My Journey
I’ve been working in instructional design for over 25 years, but my journey into the field didn’t follow a straight line. I earned my undergraduate degree online in information technology in my 40s and now, in my 60s, I’m halfway through a master’s program in instructional design. Being both a designer and a lifelong learner gives me a perspective that’s grounded in real experience, not just theory.
I design with the learner in mind in a very personal way. I understand what it’s like to juggle school, work, and life—and I bring that empathy into every course I create. My goal is always to make learning meaningful, practical, and accessible, while keeping up with new tools and ideas that can make the experience even better.
About Me
How I Look at Learning
I believe learning should be accessible for everyone, because every learner deserves the opportunity to grow and succeed. I also believe learning is an individual journey: people bring different backgrounds, strengths, and challenges to the process, and good instruction honors that.
To me, learning should be both enjoyable and rewarding, but it should also stretch us. The best learning experiences engage, support, and challenge learners in ways that help them build confidence, deepen understanding, and keep moving forward.
What I'm Exploring Now
Lately, I’ve been diving deep into the intersection of AI and instructional design. Through my recent graduate coursework in adult learning, evidence-based research, and assessment, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we can use these new tools to make learning more effective without losing the human element.
For me, it’s all about using technology as a thoughtful partner to create experiences that are more accessible, practical, and deeply meaningful for every individual.
